I have been looking through printed advertising seeking out QR codes and how they are being used.  One of the most glaring mistakes that I have seen is the QR code taking me to a full blown website.  Ask yourself: What value does this serve? Aside from frustrating your potential customer by overloading his phone’s small screen – not much.

  1. Show a video that explains how this product is used or some other benefit that is not in the print ad.
  2. Give a coupon that benefits the user such as a discount or money off their next purchase.
  3. Have a map to direct the user to a location.
  4. Have a shopping list that makes sure the user gets everything they need to use the product successfully.
  5. Give customer reviews of the product.
  6. Show other options that are available such as upgrades or different colors.

All of these items give added value to your print advertising instead of just repeating what they have already seen.
